Importance and Relevance of Scientific Awareness in our society

Science, scientific method vs mere understanding

We can find several definitions for the word “science”. In general, one of the very high level definition of science may be:

“A systematic study of the surrounding world via observations and experiments”
  • What makes it differ from mere conclusions or understanding?
  • What make a scientific stand different from a mere belief?
To understand more about these questions, we may have to understand how a scientific conclusion is made.

A scientific conclusion is mostly referred to as a scientific fact. Scientific conclusion is made through a scientific method, we refer it as a systematic study for a simple definition. A scientific method consists of just three simple steps - A hypothesis, some amount of genuine experiments to fight the hypothesis and a reasonable conclusion of the exercise. On the other hand, a mere understanding, is based on assumptions or beliefs which are mostly not validated via a scientific method. This could be based on a gut feel, based on respect on an institution or even based on a non questionable source. All of us have such understandings, most of them drive our thoughts and deeds to an extend as well.

Critical thinking and scientific thinking

Free minds always tend to interact with its surroundings rather than being a dead part of it. Some emerges as questions, some as challenges and even some as quarrels that eventually changes the surroundings. The ability to sharply interact, react and manipulate its surroundings made humans different from other living beings. Even other beings also may be doing this; but we are far ahead of them in this aspect.

The ability to question the system or mentality to challenge and cross check before accepting may be referred to as critical thinking. The basis of critical thinking is mostly the convictions, understanding and prejudice our minds forms based on its exposure and information it gains. We may refer the basis of critical thinking as knowledge, which gets enriched every now and then. Critical thinking emerges as scientific thinking, when we adopt scientific method for it rather than relying on mere assumptions. Here our decision making is based on scientific conclusions or facts rather than guesses and clues. Being said this, we always have to have room for fair abstractions; we learn to rely on classified scientific conclusions endorsed by the world. Scientific thinking enables us to build more reliable fact based knowledge base, which can be passed on from generation to generation. This critical thinking in general and scientific thinking in particular, makes human world self-evolving.

Scientific thinking and challenges

Many of our nations and organizations have initiatives to promote scientific thinking. Peripherally the effort we are collectively making to promote scientific thinking may be referred to as scientific awareness programs. Society transforms itself to a scientific aware society, when it accepts and practices scientific thinking to evaluate and decide its course of events.

All we discussed so far seems to be fine, unless we bring the terms like power and money to the table. These two elements mostly drive our ability to acquire scientific awareness. For example, an investment made cannot tolerate the result of a scientific challenge that hinders its returns, a power savvy group may not accept a scientific thought for redefining the power centers.

Scientific movements and intuitional interests

It may be observed that most of the scientific movements ends up as establishments or institutions that fundamentally negates its original intent. This tendency may be bitter fruit of over institutionalization. In short, most of the institutions and establishments knowingly or unknowingly brings constraints on the scientific thoughts or movements. Here, by institutions and establishments I refer all the small and big entities like families, organizations, religions, casts, nations etc. They emerge themselves as boundaries. Most of the time, a scientific thought has to get in to tough time with them, if it is crossing its predefined limits. Scientific awareness gets more social relevance when we are truly aware of the need of scientific thinking as well as when we are really aware of the challenges in terms of constraints it has to deal with. The social need emerges when the constrains grows themselves to control the system in wrong way. An idle drinking milk, a distant star’s ability to control day today fortunes, ability of a stone to enrich our career or even following a routine in life to attain eternal heights may be seen as tools of constraints for vested interests.

Importance of scientific awareness in society

Only when society is more scientifically aware, these types of intrusions can be realized and checked. Especially, when the markets are dull and buying capacity of society is at decline, these tools may be valued much, as it can facilitate false credibility that can drive the system for a while. The impact of these negative notions may be much wider than what we assume. Unfortunately, it tress passes in to the area of fare abstractions we discussed earlier. The manipulated assumptions and propaganda can disguise itself as scientific facts and can become driving factors for a cross section. This threat is what makes scientific awareness more essential and important than its natural need.

Renowned Malayalam poet Kunjan Nambiar once sung before a king, while the king was about to appreciate a baseless argument:

“Yesterday’s mistake may be today’s routine; Today’s routine may become tomorrow’s science; hence do not appreciate it”.

Above verses rightly enlighten us on the importance of vigil we have to keep ourselves scientifically aware and to adopt scientific thought process in our day today life. We have discussed about dangerous trends of prejudice interventions on thought processes with vested interests at a high level. If we look around us, we can view the waves of it around us. Once, we treated believes different from facts. Nowadays, belief professionals are striving hard to sell themselves as scientific believers. Once, we used to gain greatness by experience, now we are forced to swallow it based on the evidence provided to us.

There is a trend to dilute the three very basics of scientific thinking, so that critical thinking can be routed to pre-defined thinking than scientific thinking. Rather than making hypothesis based on observations, pre-packed objectives are being supplied. Instead of allowing experiments and quarrels, evidence will be provided. The ability to make fare conclusions is also at risk as we have skilled decision makers around us. These aspects are around us in various forms and colors.

More than science, technology drives us now. Though technology is facilitated by science, I doubt whether we are losing scientific thinking, which helped us to be here. Science is around us, it will be with us only when we have a scientific thinking ability. Hence, the relevance of scientific awareness to re-instantiate scientific thought process is inevitable to the very evolution of us.

What we can do to ensure scientific awareness ?

There are several programs and events we could utilize to keep scientific awareness alive:
  • Scientific elements of known facts can be debated in social media
  • Science Day, Science Week observations can be taken up seriously
  • We can get involved in science organizations and circulate their publications
  • Appreciating scientists and giving a concise summary of their achievements
  • Promotion of DIY (Do It Yourself) with active discussions on scientific elements, make kits/tools available
  • Promotion of open source movement to have the spirit of self-doing
The very basic aim of scientific awareness is bringing back the ability to question baseless claims and to enable us to prevent blind acceptance of illogical instructions. More than science, scientific awareness enriches us to build a more informed, responsible and responsive society.

Money Back Policy vs Life Back Policy

Introduction

Human beings started adopting employment as it evolved as the most convenient way of meeting monitory needs and due to the predictability it brings. Various forms of employment enables us with various virtues as long as we are successful in achieving prescribed goals. For employees, it was always a question on how long one can be successful
in bringing stated results and how to survive after the employer finds them not so effective. In general these events are inevitable for all sorts of employments, in particular managing this chaos of IT and ITES employment is yet to be well discussed.

The IT and ITES sector is relatively a new sector in India and its first generation of ex-employees are yet to be out. I am doubtful on whether our society is fully prepared to receive them. The transition from a highly paid, mostly occupied and privileged employed life to retirement life and surviving with a lots of free time may become a practical question for many of us sooner than later. The concept of welfare states, mostly influenced or challenged by European socialist thoughts, proposed the idea of state support and pensions as an answer to the management of employee lives. The idea was driven on a broader understanding that human beings are social beings and we need to address common issues via collective and collaborative initiatives.

The concept of welfare state itself does not really exist now or is in the path of its withdrawal. Most of the states now wants to believe that it should get rid of services and exist as a pure monitoring and guidance agency that facilitates effective investment and return of various forms of capital. This shift in thought process made the responsibility of ensuring the credibility of an individual, both financially and socially, as the responsibility of self. The suggestion is to invest when one is effective and survive on that when he becomes ineffective, mostly in terms of tangible and intangible assets. There are various capital options presented to us like insurance, investments on financial capital etc. as a way for it. This proposal sounds logical in first parse, but when we take a deeper look we can find that it lacks humanity as it tends to measure effectiveness of a human being in terms of his individual ability to acquire, spend and store capital/assets. Also I am doubtful whether this approach in general is doing justice to the relationships of an individual, as his existence as a non-social being does not make any real sense. This concerns are more important and injurious to employees of IT and ITES sector compared to normal employees as the most important thing an IT or ITES employee offers to his employer is his time and mind.

Benefits of IT job, how long one can survive in it and how to survive after that may not be seen in isolation, rather, it should be linked and analyzed in the larger context of various stages of life. Such an analysis may enable us to revisit our priorities to be equipped for effectively usage of job period , sharing the virtues of it and to help ourselves to find comfortable time after job. Our civilization had a fare analysis on the life cycle of human beings. In general, we used to categorize our life cycle into four phases – student phase, house hold phase, retired phase and renounced phase (Brahmacharya, Grihasthashrama, Vanaprastha, Sanyasa). These phases are thought to be well acknowledged when it helps one to achieve appreciation of right, attainment of right wealth, realization of right pleasure and finally a smooth liberation from everything
(Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha). Though there may be debates on the aims of life, I believe, an analysis on how an IT or ITES employee goes through or impacts the four life phases may help us to have an effective review.

Student Phase

The child hood phase of a human being is mostly dependent on the people around him. Knowledge acquisition and finding inputs for values happens during this phase. An employee appears in the role of a parent or mentor to this phase of life.  In particular and IT professional appears to be a busy parent to the young ones going through this
phase. Stretching our lives between deadlines and wins, most of the time, we miss to take up the responsibility of providing the right care and guidance to our next generation. Instead of providing personal attention, we tend to bridge it with best products we can be buy for them. These products may range from electronic gadgets to events which indirectly kills their time as well. Such negligence may result in building a mechanical relationship between parents and children. A realignment of professional and personal priorities may be inevitable for most of us who pay less attention to our personal contribution towards the younger ones around us.

House Hold Phase

In the house hold phase mostly an individual forms his character, ethics and values based on the foundation of student phase. Mostly in this phase we emerges as an individual and tries to make our own footprints in this world. This is also a phase most of us enters in to a family life and employment. Significantly, we play the role of a family person as well as social being in this phase, in addition to our professional side. I think we need to discuss a bit of how an IT professional behaves in this phase. Though IT professionals are considered to be masters of knowledge assets, the most important asset we are investing is our time. We are one of the most unorganized sects who does not really care about how we spent time though we mostly finds ourselves in calendars. The growing need of market readiness and false projections makes most of us to spend long hours on work. To make ourselves more comfortable we used to try to make work place a fun place and wants us to believe that we are enjoying every bit of it. We tend to compromise our responsibilities to family and society and finds it comfortable to be at work. The pay we gets is ample compared to our fellow citizens. The ability to earn money without doing any forms of corruption makes us proud internally. But, these benefits alone may not help us to be a good human. One side we are well paid and the other side we are leaving ourselves to definitions. Though we are not corrupt, via addiction to definitions most of us happens to be unjust to those around us, though it is not explicit. I know, most of us will be surprised on what I am saying; but I find that most of us lives in a world which is bit fabricated and build on top of our good spending ability. This can be well understood by analyzing our spending patterns – most of us tend to invest in insurance, shares, enjoyment packages, charity packages and beverages and tries to believe that these makes our life package fruitful. I found that most of these are made upon advice than realizing the need of them. We tend to get rid of the real world and restrict ourselves towards a small world that is well advertised and can be bought. This looks fine as far as we are credible to afford all these; when the credibility reduces, most of these may backfire. Most importantly as we are investing money instead of time on family and society, the returns may also be in terms of money – impact of which we can discuss during rest of the life phases.

Retired Phase

Retired phase may be the phase we finds ourselves less productive, but, still we may be able to survive with our surplus assets. IT professionals may have dreams to convert themselves to freelancers, consultants, mentors, employers or even farmers during this phase. The relations we might have developed with the society should help us to be successful in this phase. But, in my understanding, most of us used to be self-centric during our house hold phase and the response we may get from the society may not be that so encouraging. The effectiveness of us may be measured in terms of the assets and returns we acquired; which may start disturbing us sooner than later. I believe, the need to invest in society and building relationship with fellow citizens is equally important to our professional life, to avoid such a passive acceptance to us.

Renounced Phase

Renounced phase may be the phase where we may be forced to look back to the path we really travelled. Every individual may be looking for smiling phase, a simple chat or a helping hand in this phase. The depth of relationships we have built with our children or family members or friends may be reflecting back to us at this stage. I am expecting a passing response here also, since we mostly invested in terms of money and most of us use to give less importance to relationship building during our house hold phase as well as on those who were going through their student phase around us. At their part, they may tend to justify by spending money on us, as a return, which we may not be interested at that point of time compared to a personal nod.

Money Back Policy vs Life Back Policy

You may be thinking that I am not optimistic and I am spreading an atmosphere of discomfort over our profession in general. As we are the most unorganized set of employees, it is our responsibility to be aware of the stages we are going through and the issues we may have to phase in near feature in a theoretical perspective. I was trying to glimpse us through four phases of life to emphasize the need of work life balance and the need of us to share our virtues to the society. So far we have been advised on how to effectively invest on money back schemes. Let us think about something different that makes our lives more meaningful to us and others around us.

Before getting in to my view on how we should use the virtues of IT industry so that its benefits can be usefully utilized to make the life after job comfortable, I wish to present some incidents that may be interesting. Around ten years back, I was working in Chennai and I happen to visit one of my friends who was working in Bangalore. When I went to his house there was a house maid and she was of Tamil origin. During our conversation she told me that because of people like me they are not able to survive. I was shocked and asked her why she thinks so. She told, her father’s farm land was handed over to build an IT city against a very good price, but the money vanished in two-three years and they realized late that they lost their permanent source of income for money. Later she along with her family used to work as house maids to earn her bread, but, when she tries to bargain in a market vendors tries to refuse it as there were a good number of IT professionals who used to buy things for whatever price they say. She also shown me an example of an auto rickshaw; a middle class man was trying to hire the rickshaw to city, he was about to get in and to smartly dressed guys called the driver from a distance telling that we will offer Rs. 100 and they wanted to go to city. The driver left the first guy to get 100 bugs. She said similar things used to happen quite often and common men are also forced to pay in line with well-paid IT professionals as IT professionals does not really value money. After several years, in 2008, I managed to get a job with Infosys -Trivandrum, in an effort to relocate myself to my home state. I used to catch auto rickshaw from Karyavattom University campus to Bhawani building. One day none of the auto riksha’s were in stand and I hired a riksha which was going towards to Kazhakoottom. After reaching Bhawani, he demanded me Rs. 80, whereas I used to pay just Rs. 20 usually. He argued me that I am well paid and why I am reluctant to pay, I also requested the help of security personal in front of Bhawani, but his response was also in same line. These incidents was so convincing to me and I realized that rest of the world just see IT professional as a money making machines. When we analyse this is because we mostly interact with rest of the world in terms of money. Another incident was with my own parents. They both are retired teachers. Once my mother got admitted in a hospital in critical situation and I was wandering here and there for some sort of information. To my surprise, the doctor was my father’s student and things became very comfortable. I used to observe the acceptance they used to get in every walk of life and realized that it is the return of the personal investment and interest they have shown in the society. I am mentioning this to emphasize the need of us to build healthy relationship with the society in general. In my reading, the need of the hour for us is to effectively distribute our time between work, home and society and to build lasting relations with family members. Rather than investing money in funds and insurance, I believe a collective investment in building a local production sectors may help us to become active participants of nation building and society will be directly benefited from our assets and knowledge. This will also enable us to build lasting relationship with the ones living around us and may lead to more successful life on and after job.

A life back policy over a money back policy may be more appropriate for mastering the needs of IT and ex-IT professionals. What we need to have for any such social interference is an effective platform. Here also, I believe, we can learn from our ancestors. We need to start a co-operative society and have to use it as a vehicle for making effective investment in non-IT sector. It should also help us to migrate from IT industry after 10-20 years of service or we are done with it. We can think it in similar lines as what ex-Service men are doing among us via their associations. This will also lead to have a collective platform to identify, debate and address issues and problems that we have to commonly take up. This initiative may make more sense as we are not protected by any laws for protection of our jobs – with a 2-3 months’ notice/pay any one of us can be easily jobless.

Celebrating Meaningless Days!

Celebrating Meaningless Days! Please do not wish me (at least) on birthdays!!

Somehow, I am not convinced with the theory of accidental origin of life (forwarded by science). The accidental life spread across in the form of organisms! Each of which struggles to exist, tries to reproduce and express pain while failing to retain the body. There is something that cannot be explained with just a theory of accidental origin facilitated by a peculiar thermodynamic or chemical moment.

All the theories of creation, forwarded by religion, stamps human beings as central of universe and depicts that creation is made around and for them. It is also not convincing, since there are thousands of organisms in this world itself, which we do not know. They are also going through the same dilemma of birth, survival and expiry.

So, there is something still not clear. It does not make sense to mark or celebrate something which unknown/undefined.

Time cycle is another falsehood, which we introduced for better planning and certainty. Though we limited time around the rotation of celestial bodies near us, it is in fact not measurable. The cycles of days, months or years are being accused by us. Measuring an anniversary of an event make no sense other than fooling ourselves in the world of consumables. It’s not only that, it is stamping over importance on a living being which is going to leave shortly.

Ignoring the ignorance on birth or irrelevance of time cycles, still, I could not find a reason to celebrate/observe. There are thousands or millions in the world, who are facing severe injustice due to the social stages. Sticking to existence by keeping loyal to power centers (goliaths) for safety and ignoring the tears makes me a traitor. While every moment burns, what is the point in marking the passage. I really hate a wish.

Birthdays should remain as age marking events on official records. Marking the meaningless event and receiving wishes based on it makes me irritated. I keep wishing others on birthdays (occasionally) to have peace, in the assumption that they like it. If anyone gets irritated on the wishes (like me) please let me know, so that I will not wish any more.

Is LPG behind epidemic fever and rise of cancer in Kerala ?

Way to LPG and some concerns !

Convenient source of energy for cooking was one of our targets, always. I am attempting to walk through some of the sources I witnessed and is trying to give a look back. Below observations are purely within the context of Kerala, where you can not resist the quest for tasty and properly cooked food.

Native Energy Sources

Twenty years back, our house holds in Kerala used several native techniques to find energy for kitchen. Wood, leaves, small branches of trees, scrap wood (resulted from furniture manufacturing etc.) and cow dung were very popular among common source of energy. Basically all of them were burned to produce heat energy for cooking food.

Native sources had an inherent problem on its storage and maintenance. Cooking materials have to be collected and stored in convenient ways to use it handy. It involved, cost, time and effort. Moreover it used to produce mostly black fumes and used to make kitchens black rooms (regardless of the light and love it emits).

Solar Energy

To some extend, some of us even tried to make use of solar heat to cook food. Reflection techniques were used to concentrate heat on vessels to cook food using it.

Though there were many theoretical and scientific reasons to go for solar heat for cooking, its inconvenience and unavailability of it during all seasons made it unpopular. Most of the places, it found itself the place of solar water heater only.

Electric Energy

Electricity in full strength was not a common stuff among rural India till recent times. The conventional water heaters seems to be the first to enter kitchen. They were not so profitable and due to safety concerns they became less popular over a period of time. Electric Ovens, Induction Cookers, Electric Rice Cookers, Kettles etc. tried to pitch in.

Electric cooking devices were not able to replace traditional stoves from kitchen as the interesting and traditional cooking practices and procedures were very much tied to the good old veteran. So, more or less the electric equipment was treated as a re-heating device or a tool for baking/preparing non malayalee food.

Kerosene

Public distribution system in Kerala was very strong, once upon a time. Regardless of political colors, most of our ancestors believed that we are social animals and common facilities makes sense. Kerosene was one of the important things included in ration system along with the food items like palm oil, sugar, wheat and rice. It seems kerosene was included to be used in lamps as electricity coverage was less. Later, different varieties of kerosene stoves became common in our kitchens; some places it even replaced the traditional stoves. This trend might have helped us much in rainy seasons and should have been a boon for people in coastal belt (as they also started using it for their motor boats).

The storage of energy and its availability was acceptable to us. But the smell of it and its effect on flavor our beautiful food was not that welcome.

Coal

Coal was never a easily available stuff in Kerala and was never famous as energy source for kitchen.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)

LPG started getting into the kitchen of wealthy people initially. As the oil companies started exploring the business involved in profitably disposing their bye-product, LPG became a common element in our kitchen. Sooner than later, it became the primary source of energy for our kitchen. From the bye-product, due to the demand for it, it got the status of one of the main products for oil companies. Along with that the idea of white sophisticated kitchens, open kitchens also pitched in. Our kitchens are as beautiful or even beautiful than our drawing rooms nowadays. After ensuring that we are used to it and assuring that LPG had won clearly over other energy forms for kitchen, oil companies started exploring the profit over it by increasing price and associated charges.

Anyways, the convenience to store energy irrespective of climate and venue and the easiness and acceptability of handling it made it one of the essential commodity for us.

Some concerns on side effects of LPG, which needs to be studied ...

In my observation, LPG became a clear winner and it almost replaced most of the other forms of cooking energy sources we used. I feel, with the visual acceptability and virtual neatness it bought, it also bought its own issues.

The first and foremost issue it bought should be the cleanness of surroundings. While LPG made our kitchens clean, it made our surroundings dark and buggy. Earlier, we used to use most of the plant wastes and raw materials for cooking. We used to collect them and used to maintain them effectively to use it for cooking. This used to keep our surroundings clean and healthy. After the arrival of LPG, all such needs vanished and we are now not giving enough attention to these assets. This results in unhealthy water clogging and paves ways to increase of bugs and micro organisms in general. At a high level this can also be seen as one of the main reasons of the epidemic fevers spreading all over Kerala in rainy seasons.

Another issue may be on the value of fumes the old kitchen used to produce. This may not be relevant now, as the structure of our houses changed a lot to fit the LPG and the color it brought in. I strongly believe that in old days, the fumes the kitchen produces should have been an agent to control bugs, cockroaches and other house hold insects. As the materials were produced by plants and animals in the surroundings, burning of them should not have created much harm to the environment. As forest fire used to bring energy to the forest, natural fire should have been good for the overall health of the locality.

An aspect which needs to be studied in detail is the impact of additional elements LPG brings to our environment. LPG is collected from some distant places, being developed by several chemical and physical processes before arriving to us. It should definitely be having enough molecular combinations that are not familiar to our nature - it becomes unnatural in that way. The blue flames and the colorless fumes it produces also should have been oxidizing the unnatural elements and will be in the air around us. What are the chemical combinations it brings in? Are the adaptable to our nature? Are they having an negative impact on our health? Do they have any role in the rising amount of cancer in Kerala? For the sake of beautiful kitchen are we hosting a dangerous companion with us? I feel more studies has to happen on the impact of LPG fumes to the nature (which is not familiar to it).

2016: Pledge to keep us away from fundamental organizations, formal religions and priests !

After the departure of Mohammed (last messenger), there is believed to be no direct channel of communication between almighty and human beings.
Hence, it may not be wise to listen to capsules of wisdom prepared by others... instead we have the resposnibility to get it from messages given to various civilisations are around us (Vedas .. Gita .. Torah .. Bible .. Sutras .. Quran .. and other texts not known to us). If we are serious and genuine, our duty is not to find differences, but is to find oneness of the messages...

Most of the messengers tried to discard the dynasty of then powerful priests/establishments and tried to abolish related bogus layers, rituals and formalities. As most of the messages are available in written now, we actually do not need the help of a formal religion or priest to experiment with truth (as Gandhiji did). All such things may prevent us from experiencing our own way...

There is no validity for "rulings of priests/fatwas" and organizations like ISIS, Al-Queda etc. If one is loyal to them, they are not loyal to god and they are just loyal to mere ignorance/lust.
Some of below quotes may make it clear that there is no relationship between their shame acts and message from almighty... and be aware that Quran is not bringing a new religion, it is just endorsing previous messages/commands from same source...

Some verses from Quran (message from almighty revealed to Mohammed via the angel Gabriel/Jibreel)

Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in almighty and the last day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve .
2: 62

There is no compulsion where the religion is concerned.
2: 256

.. And whoever earns sin, he earns it only against himself. And Allah is Ever All-Knowing, All-Wise.
... And whoever earns a fault or a sin and then throws it on to someone innocent, he has indeed burdened himself with falsehood and a manifest sin.
4: 111,112

When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: "In what (plight) Were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed Were we in the earth." They say: "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (From evil)?" Such men will find their abode in Hell,- What an evil refuge! -
4: 97

... whosoever kills an innocent, it shall be as if he killed the whole mankind; and whosoever saves the life of one, saved the life of all mankind ...
5: 32

... Those to whom We have given the Book (includes all messengers/apostles/avatars before Mohammed as well) , rejoice at what has been revealed unto you (i.e. the Qur'an) , but there are among the Confederates (from the Jews and pagans) those who reject a part thereof. Say (O Muhammad ): "I am commanded only to worship almighty (Alone) and not to join partners with Him. To Him (Alone) I call and to Him is my return."
... And thus have We sent it (the Qur'an) down to be a judgement of authority in Arabic. Were you (O Muhammad ) to follow their (vain) desires after the knowledge which has come to you, then you will not have any protector or defender against Allah.
... And indeed We sent Messengers before you (O Muhammad ), and made for them wives and offspring. And it was not for a Messenger to bring a sign except by Allah's Leave. (For) each and every matter there is a Decree (from Allah).
... Allah blots out what He wills and confirms (what He wills). And with Him is the Mother of the Book (i.e., source of all revelations/messages)
13: 36,37,38,39

For We assuredly sent amongst every People an apostle (with the Command) "Serve almighty and eschew Evil": of the people were some whom Allah guided and some on whom Error became inevitably (established). So travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who denied (the Truth).
16: 36

Following the method (of way of worship) formulated/laid out by Mohammed is one of the easiest to be in gods remembrance in all what we do (as it is largely integrated with daily routines than formal rituals). The following understanding from messages to Indian sub continent also justified this intention.

Increasingly degraded generations, conceived accidentally in lust and growing up wild, swarm all over the world. Political leadership falls into the hands of unprincipled rogues, criminals and terrorists, who use their power to exploit the people. Entire populations are enslaved and put to death. The world teems with fanatics, extremists and spiritual artists, who win huge followings among a people completely dazed by hedonism, as well as by cultural and moral relativism. "Religion, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, physical strength and memory diminish with each passing day." (Srimad- Bhagavatam 12.2.1)

"In the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform chanting to worship almighty in his full abundance, ignoring the complexion of his appearance."
This sankirtana-yajña is more relevant to Kali Youga than other yajñas prescribed for other yugas -- derived from Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.5.32)

Always singing my divine glories, striving with great determination, and humbly bowing down before me, they constantly worship me in loving devotion.
Bhagavad-Gita (9.14).
